“Ukrainian women who work in Pontes are very eager to give something to others.”
Hannah is a Ukrainian psychologist with years of experience as an Art therapist. Since arriving in Poland in March 2023, she started volunteering at Pontes running art therapy workshops to other Ukrainian women. She tells us:
“Ukrainian refugee women have their self-esteem lowered because they were specialists in Ukraine and they don’t work here. These are women who are looking for opportunities and Pontes gives many to them.”
To support those women, she is also now working as a women’s health specialist and running psycho-educational workshops.
“These activities help women with integration and well-being. Pontes activities are about building community and stability. I mean the psychology of integration. Women start to feel like they are in a safe place, not in some strange conditions. These activities show them: it’s safe here, no one wants anything from you, no one wants to hurt you.”
“I would like others to learn about the needs of the Ukrainian community, but at the same time, I want to give Ukrainian women the tools to be independent."
"Thank you to WONDER everyone who is supporting us to achieve this.”
