This project is supporting Ukrainian women and their children to re-build their lives in Poland. With our local partner, Pontes we are providing long-term support for 1,000 women and children in 5 cities across Poland. The project offers employability support, language learning, psychological services, mentoring, education support, cultural integration, and guidance about services in Poland. The goal is to empower Ukrainian women and children to thrive after the destruction of war.
Roughly 1 million women and children have fled Ukraine to Poland and they arrived in Poland without resources and support networks. Women are realising the war may not end soon and are grappling with the need to prepare for a longer-term life in Poland. Long-term support is essential to ensure women and children are not only safe from conflict and immediate danger, but also able to rebuild their lives in Poland.
In partnership with our local partner Pontes, this project is contributing to the longer-term needs and integration of Ukrainian women and children. Across 5 cities in Poland, we are providing language learning, educational support, employability support, psychological services, cultural integration, mentoring, safe spaces to meet and guidance about what is available to them in Poland.
Even if the war ends tomorrow, and we hope it does, displaced Ukrainians will not be able to return home easily. Infrastructure and homes have been severely damaged, and people feel unsafe. This project will empower Ukrainian women both through meeting their immediate needs and helping them to plan for their futures-whether that means having the support they need until it is safe to return to Ukraine, or building a new life for themselves and their children in Poland.
