Empower Underserved Learners in the Philippines

The ABS-CBN Foundation continues to champion innovative approaches to education, and this time, we ventured into new and exciting territory—Robotics! 

Early second quarter of this year, the foundation held the first-ever Roboteach (Robotics Basics and Operations Training: Education and Advancement for Classroom Heroes) in Romblon, providing much-needed training to 150 teachers. This pioneering workshop aimed to equip educators with cutting-edge knowledge in robotics, enabling them to bring Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) learning to life in their classrooms. 

The teachers who participated expressed immense gratitude for the opportunity to be part of such a forward-thinking initiative. For many, it was their first exposure to robotics—a subject they are excited to teach and integrate into their curriculum, fostering critical thinking, creativity, and problem-solving skills in students. The Roboteach program offered hands-on learning experiences, ensuring that the knowledge gained could be directly applied in their teaching practices. 

This first wave of training is just the beginning. The overwhelming demand from the teachers for continued support and resources, including access to robotics kits, highlights the importance of sustaining these efforts. The foundation is hopeful that with ongoing partnerships and community engagement, future waves of this training will ensure more teachers—and ultimately, students—will benefit from the transformative potential of robotics education.
