A New Academic Year, A Renewed Commitment

The 2026–2027 academic year has officially begun in Ghana, bringing new opportunities, excitement, and hope for children returning to the classroom. At BASICS International, we believe that every child deserves access to quality education, regardless of their family's financial circumstances.

We are pleased to share that 90 children are currently receiving full educational sponsorship through BASICS International. This support helps remove financial barriers that might otherwise prevent children from attending school consistently and progressing academically.

However, our work is far from finished.

Our immediate goal is to fully sponsor 125 children this academic year. That means we are working to secure support for 35 additional children who deserve the same opportunity to learn, grow, and pursue their dreams.

More Than School Fees

At BASICS International, sponsorship is about more than placing a child in a classroom.

Our approach recognizes that children need a supportive environment to succeed. Alongside educational sponsorship, our broader programs provide opportunities for academic reinforcement, mentorship, personal development, digital literacy, and access to nutritious meals.

Through our after-school activities, children can receive additional guidance, build confidence, develop friendships, and strengthen skills that will serve them beyond the classroom.

We are also continuing to emphasize regular attendance, academic progress, family engagement, and the overall wellbeing of the children in our care.

Our commitment is not simply to get children into school, but to help them remain in school and succeed.

Expanding Our Reach: 400 More Children in Rural Ghana

While we continue supporting children in the coastal community of Chorkor, Accra, we are also looking beyond our immediate community.

Our next priority is to expand educational support to approximately 400 additional children at Kongo D/A Basic School in the Shai-Osudoku District of Ghana.

For children in rural communities, educational opportunities can be limited by shortages of learning materials, technology, educational resources, and access to enrichment activities.

Through this expansion, BASICS hopes to work alongside the school and local community to strengthen the learning environment and introduce additional opportunities for children to develop academically, socially, and creatively.

Our vision includes access to educational materials, digital learning, mentorship, and activities that help children discover their talents and potential.

This initiative represents an important step toward connecting underserved rural communities with the opportunities available through BASICS International's growing educational ecosystem.

Our Goals for the Academic Year

• 125 fully sponsored children: Increase our current sponsorship from 90 to 125 children.

• 400 additional rural schoolchildren: Expand educational opportunities through our partnership with Kongo D/A Basic School.

• Stronger academic performance: Continue providing after-school learning support and monitoring student progress.

• Digital skills and exposure: Introduce more children to technology, creativity, and practical learning opportunities.

• Family and community engagement: Work with parents, teachers, and community leaders to encourage school attendance, student wellbeing, and educational achievement.
