Namaste Everyone,
May I offer you warm spring greetings from all of us here at Rescue junction in our new bright and comfortable centre here in Gaya.
I want to include in this report the words of a porter (Raju -name changed) who works at the station,
"Before People first opened Rescue Junction nobody cared or looked out for the children here at the station. What People First do is hold regular meetings with us the porters, the railway police and others who work on the station and they let us know what to look for such as children on their own, suspicious groups and women in distress. I will be honest we first went to the meetings because we were offered a good vegetable curry for lunch but we soon realised what an important part we could all play in helping children who needed help and rescuing from harm. It is a source of great pride now for us that we are part of this noble work".
The prevention of child abuse is everyone’s concern, and through our awareness programmes work in schools and other places we hope to create a safer environment for all children in our area. With the involvement of Railway staff, we can have a hundred eyes and ensure there is no place for traffickers to hide. This includes travelling ticket examiners on the actual trains.
Your support is so important to enable us to reach out to even more cjildren and make life safer for all of them.
Thank you so much!
Priya and Raju
