Women in Somalia face a number of health and social challenges due to busy lifestyles, lack of healthcare, and years of conflict.
Issues such as poor access to medical care, early marriages, and gender-based violence continue to affect women and children. International Women’s Day, celebrated on 8 March, recognises the strength and important role of women in society.
To support women’s health, Gift of the Givers works with women’s groups and healthcare centres to reduce maternal and child mortality.
The organisation has also established maternity and midwifery hospitals that provide safe delivery services, counselling, and healthcare support for mothers and children.
