We have great news!
Our project on Community Incentives for Mangrove Protection, named "Mangrove of my Heart/ Manglar de mi Corazón", received a generous donation from a private donor to do some really cool things!
This donation enabled us to connect with Pelagic Data out of San Francisco, California. Pelagic Data uses digital tecnology and data mangement to protect and improve the quality of fisheries all over the world. The first week of april, they will join us in Rincón del Mar to connect their activities and data collection process to our Mangrove Data, support local fisherman in developing better practices, and thereby protecting local livelihoods and well being that depend on the health and wellbeing of local ecosystems.
We also participated in the "Data Management for Ecosystem Protection" Conference in Montería, Córdoba the 14 of March, where E2E presented how communities are a an important part of ecosystem protection, and how we can connect data on environmental quality and human wellbeing to make sure that we attend to both in any kind of intervention.
We are proud of the community´s response, involvement and how they have adopted the project and are making big strides for social change.
Rincón del Mar is a resilient community that need more help than ever, and we are going to stand by them on their journey towards creating a resilient, united and sustainable community.
We are working on mangroves, fisheries, community education and trash management. . .which is a lot! If you would like to sign up to out mailing list, just go to our website to get more news.
We are also still lookign for support for this project-- we have reached several big milestones for fundraising, but are still looking for another $30,000 USD. GlobalGiving has facilitated connecting us withsom any of you- and we greatly appreciate your support. To continue making big changes in Rincón del Mar, we are asking you to become a monthly donor to the Rincón del Mar project.
Any small amount helps, and what is pocket change for you can make a big difference in Rincón del Mar.
Thanks again for all of your support and stay tuned for exciting updates.
