In the US:
Since our last project update, we raised $17,337 from donors to our GlobalGiving webpage, after paying GG's fees. Thanks, as always, for your support!
On July 13, 2023, DOHS's newly elected board of directors collected approximately 80,000 donations of clothes, shoes, and blankets from the community to support the displaced families in Chad. We have allocated the donations funds to collecting donations from donors, including renting trucks and gas expenses, renting a container from the port to ship the donations, and the transportation expenses from the port to the displacement families in Chad. The container is currently located in Benin heading to Adre, Chad where the displaced families reside. However, we are facing difficult financial challenges due to rising transportation expenses. Currently, we are running short of funds to deliver the container to Adre. We are kindly asking for your continued financial support to complete this mission and support the displaced families back home.
Dear Friend,
You subscribed to email updates from Support for displaced families in West Darfur - GlobalGivin by The Doroti Organization for Humanitarian Services, Incorporated, a project on GlobalGiving. Here's the unedited update from the field:
In Darfur, Sudan:
On April 15th, 2023, a war broke out in West Darfur, Sudan. Forcing more than 1.9 million people to cross the border to the neighboring countries; Chad, Libya, the Central African Republic, Egypt, Ethiopia, and South Sudan. The ongoing war in Sudan has resulted in a dire humanitarian crisis, leaving countless killed, wounded, and assaulted. The country is in urgent need of assistance to address issues such as food insecurity, and access to clean water, clothes, shoes, tarpaulins, medical supplies, etc.
Due to the current situation in West Darfur, Sudan, the DOHS team aboard has relocated to a safer location in Chad. We have been working very closely with the team back home and continue to monitor the difficulties our people are currently experiencing.
We would love you to continue your support and share with families and friends to help us spread the word about our work and continue to grow our community of supporters like you. If you’re willing to share the story of our work with your network, we’d be incredibly grateful. Below is our link to the new project and please don’t hesitate to contact us if you have any questions or comments. Thank you again!
