In the US:
Since our last project update, we raised $148.90 from donors to our GlobalGiving webpage, after paying GG's fees. Thanks, as always, for your support!
Upon completing our clothes distribution in Adre, Chad this past March 2024, our team back home raised an urgent matter we should address as soon as possible—circumcision surgeries for many displaced young boys (specifically for orphans). We are asking for financial support to cover the expense of medicine, food, new clothes, and the cost of the surgery for each person. We are hoping to help as many individuals as possible, please donate whatever you can any amount will certainly help towards the project. This is our next goal to accomplish, as always your support is greatly appreciated.
Dear Friend,
You subscribed to email updates from Support for displaced families in West Darfur - GlobalGivin by The Doroti Organization for Humanitarian Services, Incorporated, a project on GlobalGiving. Here's the unedited update from the field:
In Darfur/Chad:
Since our last report, most displaced families have been relocated to new refugee camps, however, there are still some displaced people in Adre. We have been working very closely with the team back home and continue to monitor the difficulties our people are currently experiencing. The food shortage is becoming a massive challenge, and there is currently no possible solution. The war in Sudan has also greatly worsened what was already a severe displaced persons crisis in Chad, creating another massive disaster with no end in sight
Recap of the current situation:
On April 15th, 2023, a war broke out in West Darfur, Sudan. Forcing more than 1.9 million people to cross the border to the neighboring countries; Chad, Libya, the Central African Republic, Egypt, Ethiopia, and South Sudan. The ongoing war in Sudan has resulted in a dire humanitarian crisis, leaving countless killed, wounded, and assaulted. The country urgently needs assistance to address issues such as food insecurity, access to clean water, clothes, shoes, tarpaulins, medical supplies, etc. The ongoing violence against, and food insecurity suffered by civilians in Darfur greatly increased when the current war broke out in April 2023.
We would love you to continue your support and share with families and friends to help us spread the word about our work and grow our community of supporters like you. If you’re willing to share the story of our work with your network, we’d be incredibly grateful. Below is our link to the new project.
