From Survival to Leadership-Transforming Lives

By Elizabeth Elachi | Project Leader

Dear Changemaker,

Every survivor has a story that can inspire change. Fatima was only 16 when she was forced to leave school and marry a much older man—a reality for 43% of young women in Nigeria. Early motherhood and the trauma of gender-based violence overshadowed the dreams she once held. But Fatima’s story didn’t end there.

With the support of GoGreen’s peer-led education group, Fatima gained knowledge about her rights and the courage to advocate for herself. She formed lasting connections with others who had walked similar paths. Today, Fatima is a community champion, helping girls stay in school and supporting survivors to heal and rebuild.

This is the power of your support.

When you invest in the "Support Sexual Health Rights for Women and Girls" project, you create opportunities for survivors like Fatima to reclaim their futures and help others do the same. Here’s how your contribution will make a difference:

  • Empowering 400 women, girls, and youth with critical knowledge and life skills, enabling them to make informed choices about their bodies, health, and futures.
  • Training survivor-leaders who provide peer counselling and emotional support, building a resilient network that no longer tolerates silence or stigma.
  • Facilitating open forums where families, religious, and traditional leaders come together to discuss and challenge harmful practices, laying the groundwork for lasting change.
  • We help communities enforce laws against child marriage, FGM, and GBV so that they hold perpetrators accountable and protect survivors.

The result is a community transformation that goes beyond individuals. Survivors become leaders. Families support education and reject violence. Norms shift as more people witness the courage and resilience of those who have turned trauma into activism.

Your generosity can turn survivors into agents of change and communities into safe havens. By supporting this project, you’re not just addressing immediate needs—you’re lighting the way for generations to come.

Let’s build a Benue State where every girl can dream, every survivor can lead, and every community stands together against violence and injustice.

With sincere thanks,
