Families in Ortese, Northern Nigeria, have already endured unimaginable hardship. Years of violent conflict forced them to flee their homes, abandon their livelihoods, and struggle for survival. Now, as hope returns and families begin to come back, they are confronted with a harsh reality: the most basic necessity—safe drinking water—is still out of reach.
Water is the foundation of recovery. Without it, rebuilding is impossible. Children continue to fall ill from waterborne diseases, unable to attend school or thrive. Women and girls walk long distances every day to collect contaminated water, putting their safety and futures at risk. Entire households remain trapped in a cycle of poor health, lost opportunities, and fragile livelihoods.
Our Safe Water Project is determined to break this cycle and bring real change to Ortese. By installing clean water systems—such as boreholes and filtration units—and providing hygiene education, we will not only supply safe, reliable water but also empower the community to manage and protect these resources for generations to come. Regular water testing and maintenance will ensure that this vital lifeline endures.
