Executive Summary (English Translation)
In response to the humanitarian crisis caused by the armed conflict in Masisi, North Kivu (DR Congo), this project aims to support displaced families returning to their home villages. In partnership with GlobalGiving, we have launched an initiative to meet urgent needs and lay the foundations for sustainable recovery. Our goal is to raise USD $80,000 to provide life-saving resources such as food, livestock, seeds, and construction materials to these vulnerable populations by working directly with community task forces in the communes of Goma and Karisimbi, which include 18 neighborhoods.
1. Project Background and Rationale
Following the outbreak of conflict in Masisi, thousands of families fled to Goma. Today, as security gradually improves, many are returning only to find their homes destroyed, their lands abandoned, and no means of survival.
These families are in urgent need of humanitarian assistance to rebuild their lives. Their vulnerability requires an integrated response combining emergency aid (food, shelter) and resilience-building (seeds, livestock, housing reconstruction, and community mobilization).
2. Project Objectives
General Objective:
To support the social and economic reintegration of returning families in Masisi through multi-sectoral humanitarian assistance.
Specific Objectives:
- Provide emergency aid (food, livestock, seeds) to 600 returning families.
