Women who have survived violence in the Democratic Republic of Congo continue to face challenges long after the immediate crisis has passed. For many, the loss of income, social isolation, trauma, and stigma can make it difficult to rebuild their lives and regain a sense of dignity and independence. Our project was designed to respond to these interconnected challenges through a comprehensive reintegration approach combining economic empowerment, psychosocial support, and community sensitization. With a total funding goal of US$20,000, the project aims to help women regain confidence, develop practical skills, strengthen their livelihoods, and rebuild their place within their communities.
During this reporting period, the project has been in its preparation and resource-mobilization phase. We have begun identifying qualified trainers and potential learners who will participate in the program, while continuing to mobilize the resources needed for implementation. To date, US$0 has been raised toward the US$20,000 goal, making donor support more important than ever. Although the fundraising journey has not yet reached the level we hoped for, our commitment to these women remains strong. Through our collaboration with GlobalGiving, we now have an opportunity to reach a wider community of international donors and build the support required to move this project from preparation to implementation.
The expected impact goes far beyond vocational training. We want participating women to have practical opportunities to earn an income, strengthen their financial independence, access psychosocial support, and recover their confidence after experiences of violence. At the same time, community sensitization will help address stigma and create a more supportive environment for survivors and their families. We will monitor participation, skills development, livelihood opportunities, psychosocial progress, and community engagement so that donors can see how their contributions translate into meaningful change.
We sincerely thank GlobalGiving for providing a platform that connects locally led initiatives with people around the world who believe in human dignity and community resilience. We also thank every donor and supporter who has taken the time to listen to the needs of women affected by violence in the DRC. We invite compassionate individuals, foundations, organizations, and partners to stand with us and help us reach our US$20,000 goal. Every contribution can help create an opportunity for a woman to learn, rebuild her livelihood, regain her confidence, and be welcomed back into her community. Together, through solidarity and sustained support, we can help turn survival into recovery and recovery into a more hopeful future.
