South Sudan is experiencing a large influx of refugees and returnees fleeing from Sudan due to political Instability seeking safety, stability and humanitarian assistance within its borders. Facilitating Action for Community Empowerment recognizes the urgent need to support these vulnerable populations. This concept note outlines our proposal to provide essential assistance in the areas of food security, non-food items (NFIs), and livelihood support.
The sudden influx of refugees and returnees will pose a significant strain on South Sudan's limited resources and infrastructure. The country already faces numerous humanitarian challenges, including food insecurity, inadequate healthcare, and limited access to clean water. The increased population will exacerbate these issues, making it even more challenging to meet the basic needs of both the host communities and the newcomers.
Provision of Emergency Relief: Humanitarian support is essential in providing immediate and life-saving assistance to 200,000 returnees and 150,000 refugees. This includes the distribution of food, clean water, shelter, and essential healthcare services. By ensuring their basic needs are met, we can alleviate their suffering and promote their well-being.
Humanitarian support will empower about 200, 000 individuals and 50,000 households to become self-reliant and active contributors to local economies. It will also lead to integration leads to increased community resilience, reduced tensions, and improved social cohesion.
