We deeply appreciate the generous support of the GlobalGiving Foundation and its supporters for the Mabati Medical Centre in Kilifi County. Thanks to your donations, we have restored hope and saved many lives in Kilifi County.In the last 5 months, the Mabati Medical Centre has served 15,920 patients within the facility and over 3000 patients through the various community medical outreaches. Our diagnostic services performed 5,227 lab tests, 1,910 radiology exams, and 405 cervical cancer screenings.
A key highlight was the free Medical Eye Camp on May 18th, in partnership with Lions Club Mombasa Pwani oragnized with support from the Mabati Medical Centre teams. This event provided comprehensive eye examinations and treatments to 424 patients. Remarkably, 27 individuals underwent minor surgery to remove cataracts, restoring their vision and significantly improving their quality of life. Additionally, we held a diabetes awareness outreach for 590 workers in Mariakani. In collaboration with the Naledi Initiative, the Mabati Medical Centre medical teams participated in a free cancer screening and integrated medical camp on May 25th at Athi Primary School in Maua-Igembe South. Over 2,000 members of the Igembe South community benefited from the diverse range of medical services offered, which included cervical, breast, and prostate cancer screenings, blood pressure and hypertension assessments, nutrition assessments, and general health check-ups.
We are dilighted and proud to notify our donors that we have introduced new programs targeting youth in our community. The Adolescent and Youth Friendly Clinic addresses teenage pregnancies, HIV, mental health, and gender-based violence. Our Dental Health Awareness program has improved oral hygiene for 4,700 pupils in primary schools across Kilifi County.
