On July 8th, a missile struck the Okhmatdyt Pediatric Hospital, where Soleterre cares for children with cancer and war injuries. The scenes are dramatic: collapses in pediatric oncology and rehabilitation wards; numerous patients injured under the rubble; the pain and fear of survivors. Soleterre is providing immediate relief, focusing on safe relocation, medical care, and psychological support for pediatric cancer patients.
On July 8th, Russian shelling targeted Okhmatdyt Pediatric Hospital, where Soleterre has been caring for children with cancer, endangering the lives of countless young cancer patients. These children, already battling severe illnesses, now face the added trauma of war and displacement. The immediate need is to evacuate these children to safe locations where they can continue their treatment and receive psychological support to cope with the trauma of the attacks and ongoing conflict.
Soleterre aims to address this urgent need through the following actions: 1. Evacuation: Safely evacuate pediatric cancer patients to secure locations for uninterrupted medical care. 2. Medical Support: Ensure continued cancer treatments and medical support for evacuated children. 3. Psychological Support: Provide psychological support to children and families to cope with the trauma. 4. Shelter and Basic Needs: Offer shelter, food, and necessities to evacuated families during the crisis.
This project will not only save lives by ensuring that critically ill children continue to receive the medical care they need, but it will also provide a foundation for their psychological recovery. By addressing both immediate and long-term needs, Soleterre aims to give these children and their families the best chance for a healthier, more stable future despite the challenges they face.
