This project supports vulnerable Palestinian families and local small businesses in Jerusalem through prepaid Support Cards. Each donation of approximately USD 53 provides one family with a card to purchase essential items from participating neighborhood shops. One contribution therefore helps a family meet basic needs while helping a local shopkeeper continue trading and keep the business open.
Palestinian small businesses in Jerusalem face declining trade, reduced customer activity, rising economic pressure, and ongoing instability. Many shopkeepers struggle to cover operating costs, while vulnerable families cannot afford essential items. If local shops close, livelihoods, access to basic goods, community networks, and the social and cultural character of Jerusalem's neighborhoods will all be weakened.
The project provides carefully selected families with Support Cards worth approximately USD 53. Families use the cards to buy essential goods from participating neighborhood businesses. This gives them dignity and freedom to choose what they need most, while directing funds into the local economy. Each card creates a dual impact by supporting one vulnerable family and one local business.
The Support Card model strengthens community resilience by improving families' access to essential goods and helping local businesses remain sustainable. It protects livelihoods, supports neighborhood commerce, and preserves the social and cultural identity of Jerusalem's historic communities. As the project grows, more families can meet their needs with dignity and more shopkeepers can keep serving their communities.
