About Udayan Care

Udayan Care is a Public Charitable Trust, working for the last 22 years, for the quality care of disadvantaged children and women.

Vision: To Regenerate the Rhythm of Life of the Disadvantaged

Theory of Change:“There are millions of orphaned and abandoned children in India; in addition, girls from weaker sections of society who do not get an equal opportunity to continue their education; professional skills and attitude are lacking among disadvantaged communities to become economically self reliant”.

Udayan Care provides homes to orphaned children while also giving girls financial and development support to continue higher education, and communities to train themselves in vocations, by engaging socially committed individuals, who provide a transformative, nurturing and mentoring environment, to help them realize their full potential.

Mission:

A nurturing home for every orphaned child, an opportunity for higher education for every girl and for every adult, the dignity of self-reliance and the desire to give back to society.

About ITSD centers

There is a growing demand for Information Technology and Skill development among the poor urban and rural communities including communities around our Udayan homes. We have also found the use of computer and IT vitally important in our counseling programmes for the children of Udayan Homes. Thus, the project intends to focus on mixed communities; communities who are located around our Udayan Homes and those in the densely populated clusters of slums, resettlement colonies and other low income settlements by setting up IT & SD centers for imparting Information Technology and skill development training.

Program Vision

To broaden horizons and bring IT close to the lives of underserved rural and urban communities in Delhi and NCR, and thus empower them for greater job prospects

Target Group & Reach

Poor urban/ slum communities, especially women, adolescent, children of Delhi and NCR

Unique aspects of the Program

  • Selection and enrollment of trainees on subsidized fees and free ships
  • Capacity building of trainers and program staff
  • Community Mobilization through co-curricular activities
  • Documentation and periodic program reviews
  • Trainee assessment procedures and certification

Social Campaign “Save Yamuna”

Students from one of our centers, during DaanUtsav, conducted a social campaign on importance of clean and safe water reservoirs. The students took initiative to make people and the community aware of the significance of reservoirs for the economic and ecological needs. Through this campaign they have urged the community to prevent water pollution and protect the river YAMUNA from losing its purity. Students designed attractive posters & illustrations and this visual communication material helped them to create awareness for clean Yamuna.

Mr Ajay Arora (Sub Division Magistrate-MayurVihar), Mr Haji Sharif Ahmad (Chief Warden, District-East Delhi) has joined this social campaign and motivated our students to make this social campaign successful.

Workshop with UPS Foundation “Badarpur IT Centre”

UPS (United Parcel Service) US based company who works with Udayan Care IT program since 2012. On Saturday 24.09.2016, 32 volunteers organized a workshop with our Badarpur IT center students. During this workshop they conducted fun based games, quiz contest, & competition. After the fun activities, volunteers shared their work experience; they counseled students on how they can make their career in the field of logistics. At the end of the day, they distributed the prizes to students and gave a small treat to students with a delicious meal.

Miracle of hope

Ravi ( Name Changed)  was armed with powerful wings to fly high and achieve his dreams.

He belongs to a very poor family which is supported by nominal financial resources, since his father works as a peon and his income is the only source of family income for them. After completing 12th from a govt school, Ravi pursued distance learning from IGNOU. Simultaneously, he also joined basic computer course in our East vinod Nagar center (one of our centers in East Delhi). He trained himself in Basic computer skills & typing skills from Udayan Care and, thereafter, with the help of the placement cell, he got an opportunity to work in Vivid Techno (Wajirabad, Delhi) at a decent salary.

Recently, I started working with Vivid Techno as a Search Engine Optimization (SEO). I’m enjoying my work profile and I believe my hard work will prove to be fruitful very soon.
