The Skilling and Livelihood Program (erstwhile known as Udayan Care IT & Vocational Training Program) continues to strengthen communities across five states through 22 skilling centres, delivering industry-aligned skill training combined with employability-focused interventions. The program goes beyond traditional skill training to support the holistic development of recipients and consistently ensures placement for over 70% of all certified recipients.
In October, the program was actively involved in Joy of Giving Week (Daan Utsav), an initiative that reinforced the importance of community-driven action. The UCS&L Program celebrated the spirit of giving back with the participation of over 1,000 recipients and more than 60 team members across skilling centres. Each day’s initiative was thoughtfully planned to reflect empathy, contribution, and shared responsibility. Recipients engaged in activities that allowed them to give back through their time, skills, and efforts, while also enhancing their presentation, collaboration, and communication skills. The objective was to nurture a culture of empathy and learning, enabling young adults to grow into confident, socially aware individuals.
The week-long celebration included Peer Learning Sessions, where recipients conducted skill-sharing sessions for their peers; a Food Donation Drive in nearby resettlement colonies; Citizenship Entitlement Support activities to create awareness around government schemes; Skill Exchange sessions with private and government institutions focusing on resume writing, email communication, and LinkedIn usage; and Reflection Sessions, where recipients shared their learnings and personal takeaways. Recipients stepping forward as contributors rather than beneficiaries highlighted the transformative strength of collective action.
In November, the program organised the Bi-Annual Placement Drive on 26th and 27th November to create meaningful employment opportunities and exposure for young adults seeking to begin their professional journeys. The placement drive was not limited to the Skilling & Livelihood Program alone and was open to all young adults in need of an opportunity to start their careers. The initiative leveraged professional networks to expand access to employment opportunities and strengthen program outcomes.
The placement drive brought together recipients from Skilling Centres, the Aftercare Outreach Program, Shalini Fellowship, and walk-in applicants. Over 207 job seekers participated in two days of slot-wise interviews with 11 recruiters from six leading companies. The atmosphere throughout the drive reflected enthusiasm, hope, and confidence as recipients took important steps toward their professional journeys.
The impact of the drive was deeply encouraging, with 165 candidates receiving immediate joining offers, while the remaining shortlisted applicants progressed to the process allocation round scheduled for the first week of December 2025. Among these outcomes was Rohit (Name changed), who completed the Tally Prime course under the Skilling & Livelihood Program and secured a job as a Tally Operator with Germanium Technologies. He shared his excitement about starting his professional journey with the team. His story is one of many that show how the program helps young adults begin dignified livelihoods through the right skills and opportunities.
