Please meet Herb, tribal citizen of Fond du Lac Band of lake Superior Chippewa. Herb has been a law officer for the tribe and more recently their Tribal Police Chief. Herb is an amazing community member, father, traditional dancer, artist and entrepreneur. As of July 1, 2019 he has left his career to focus his energies on his business Round Lake Traditions. Herb recently attended one of our Buy Native workshops that focused soley on artists.
As a part of this workshop, artists were able to meet with a graphic designer and have their logos reviewed or designed, they met with a professional photographer who did product and head shots. They also met with a master artist to review and develop their artist statements and bios. They are also met with a branding, marketing and social media experts to review their current social media and marketing efforts. In addition, each artist received a Tool Kit manual that focuses on marketing, social media, web development, branding, getting your message out and search engine ,optimization, as well as a thumb drive with all their photos, statements/bios, business card and brochure layout.
These types of services are sorely missing in our tribal communities and what we were able to offer these artists have put them on a good path for their businesses. This is part of our Buy Native program.
Also in June, we hosted the first ever Trading at the Red River Indigenous Marketplace. This event is historic because the Red River was a major trading hub for tribes in Canada, North and South Dakota, Minnesota and Montana. We had 688 visitors to the event. We have been invited back.
We have an all day Buy Native conference planned for November 9, 2019, and will include awards for Business and Artist of the Year, and in the evening we will host a fashion show, featuring the designs of Norma Baker Flying Horse and Herb Fineday.
We want to thank you for your support, none of this would be possible without generous donors like you!
