Meet Douglas and Shirley Lee of Simplee Sweets, White Earth Nation (https://www.facebook.com/SimpLee-Sweets-LLC-182438619212300/) and Wesley May of Wesley May Arts, Red Lake Nation (https://www.facebook.com/wesleymayarts/) three of our recent Buy Native Cross-Promotion grant recipients. Doulgas and Shirley Lee have just begun a a gourmet bake goods company on White Earth Nation. Wesley May is an established artist with a large studio and print and design business on Red Lake Nation.
Simplee Sweets will be purchasing customized t-shirts and hats to promote their business at the launch party in January 2019, and this merchandise has been designed and produced by Wesley May Arts. Simplee Sweets will promote Welsey May Arts and his inspired Native merchandise to all their customers.
In addition to the $1000 marketing award, the entrepreneurs will also receive five hours of technical assistance counseling with a native business expert. This will provide the entrepreneurs additional assistance as they are growing their businesses.

This past month we hired an amazing and talented native team of photographers and videographers and staff member to travel around the state interviewing artisans and businesses. When the team visited Wesley May Arts on Red Lake Nation they brought a drone to shoot imagery from a different view. MNIBA will producing 15 each 30 second videos and start building a library of beautiful images. We will be sharing more during our next report about the other grant recipients and what they are doing to creatively cross-promote.
