Kaps library is one of the libraries BFM donated to Kaps Model school which is serving about 400 people a day within its community. The library was constructed in 2008 and it was donated to Kaps model schools the same year. We intend to extend the library size due to the current high demand of space from the users within the community. We have managed to raise $16,000 and we need to raise $7334. after this expansion we expect to be accommodating 800 people which is double the current number
Kaps library is one of the libraries BFM donated to Kaps Satellite school which is serving about 400 people a day within its community. In 2020 BFM decided to do an extension of the Library because they were concerns that the library was small and could not accommodate the current demand that it has. We also felt that there is a need to have a heritage/museum section in the library so that people can learn about the history of Malawi and other cultures.
Once the extension is complete, there will be more room and space for people to use in the library and this will boost the reading culture that is currently growing within the community. Introduction of the heritage/museum section will help the people in the community learn more about their culture as currently we do not have many such places here in Malawi where people have access to such information.
The extension project will allow more people to use the library. We anticipate that after the completion of this project he number of users of the library will double coming up to 800 a day.
