In July of this year, we welcomed a new group to the project, and we are very excited about this new chapter! The project offered a series of activities focused on developing social-emotional skills and encouraging greater participation among adolescents and young people. During group activities, participants reflected, shared suggestions, and voted on the guidelines they considered most important for maintaining a safe, welcoming, and respectful environment. Workshops were also held on child labor and the rights guaranteed under Brazil’s Statute of the Child and Adolescent (ECA). Through discussions based on everyday situations, the participants were able to express their opinions, listen to different perspectives, and build knowledge together. These activities helped develop communication, active listening, critical thinking, argumentation, and the ability to find solutions collaboratively.
One of the most special moments during this period was the outing to Ponta Negra, which offered participants an opportunity for recreation, integration, and social interaction outside the project’s usual setting. During the outing, the adolescents and young people took part in sports and recreational activities, interacted more spontaneously, and shared a group snack. The experience encouraged cooperation, respect, communication, and positive group interaction.
