The participants of the IT project, implemented with young people in situations of social vulnerability in Manaus, not only developed digital skills but were also encouraged to strengthen their leadership and autonomy, taking on an active role in transforming their communities.
In response to the high rates of diseases transmitted by the Aedes aegypti mosquito, such as dengue and Zika, the young participants planned and carried out a community-based prevention action. The initiative included the distribution of repellents to 20 health units, as well as guidance for healthcare professionals and community members on effective measures to prevent the proliferation of the mosquito.
Special attention was given to the Abelha Community, located on an island and entirely dependent on river transportation, with no access to telephone or internet services, which significantly increases barriers to information and healthcare.
Overall, the initiative reached approximately 2,500 people, reinforcing the importance of community mobilization and highlighting the role of young people as agents of change, capable of applying the knowledge gained through the project to concrete actions with social impact.
With your support, it is possible to continue transforming the lives of many young people, expanding opportunities, strengthening communities, and promoting sustainable solutions to local challenges.
