For several years, with your help, we have enabled talented young throat-singers to continue their career path. Throat-singing is essential to the survival of the at-risk Altai culture.

Now it is time for the summer cultural gathering of the Altai people at Elo Village in the Onguday District. Our young singers perform there, and meet with other singers to learn songs from far-flung villages and compete for honors with singers who come from as far away as Kazakhstan and Khakasia.

From there, they will continue to practice their art during their summer break from university study by giving community concerts in schools and cultural centers. Thank you for your continued support to make this happen!

Today is GlobalGiving "Matching Day" and the indigenous Altai youths who are dedicating their lives to sustaining their sacred culture will receive an extra 30% matching bonus with your donation.

The matching starts at 9am ET and goes until the matching funds are all allocated, which usually takes not more than half a day. So please donate immediately if you can.

These young people are faced with the terrible choice of sticking with their culture and depending on international help until they can get their feet under themselves or abandoning their ancient culture and entering a job market that is strongly prejudicial against them.

Your donation enables them to hang onto their culture and steward their sacred lands just a little bit longer. Thank you for both previous and future donations!!!

Tomorrow, your donation will be matched at 30%! This is a great opportunity to support the young Altai throat-singers who are, truly, the hope for the future of their at-risk culture.

These youths, coming out of situations of extreme financial lack, are winning national contests. They deserve to have a chance to fulfill their potential. Eighteen-year-old Viktor, pictured in this report, is one of those needing your support. He is shown onstage in the process of winning a contest celebrating ethnic minorities in Russia last November.

Look for the e-mail tomorrow morning and please give as generously as you can. Thank you for your ongoing support!

Viktor, one of our gifted young throat-singers was invited to a national festival in St. Petersburg. It was his chance to shine -- and shine he did, winning first place in the throat-singing contest.

But it was only with donations through GlobalGiving that he had travel money to go. We were very grateful for the resources to enable Viktor to succeed not only in his own life, but as the hopeful next generation of a reviving culture.

Please consider a recurring donation or a generous year-end contribution that will enable Viktor to continue to develop his gifts, which are at the core of the threatened Altai culture.

Thank you for your continuing support.

The most urgent need that we've been focusing on has been to provide support to enable promising young Altai throat-singers to continue their training. The throat-singers are the traditional keepers of culture and history for the Altai people, and as such, their development as leaders is crucial to the survival of the culture.

Optimally, your donation would be on-going, because the youths can only commit to continuing their training if they can be assured of sustenance. A monthly stipend of $75 per month has been requested for each of a half-dozen young singers, but that amount can also be divided among several people.

Thank you for you on-going support!
