The onslaught of the novel Corona virus, and its rapid spread across the globe, has had devastating effects on the life of millions, the world over. In India, the 1st phase of lockdown, to prevent the spread of this deadly virus, was imposed in the 2nd week of March, 2020. Ever since, with the virus not showing any signs of slowing down, we have all been confined to the boundaries of our home. This has had a particularly harsh effect on those who already fell under the lower socio-economic strata of society, with many of them now being pushed further into poverty – a loss of employment which has translated into a lack of basic essentials to get through the day. Millions in India have now been pushed to the precipice, struggling to make it from one day to the next.
Over the last 5 months, STCI has successfully distributed 19,246 Grocery and Hygiene Kits, 550 PPE Kits for Police personnel, 3500 Masks, 21,600 bottles of water and 6000 snack kits to migrants travelling back home in the special trains, across Maharashtra and Delhi NCR. Through our efforts, we have reached out to over 1,30,770 beneficiaries, and will continue doing so in the days and months to come.
We would like to thank our donors for their generous donations, and will strive to ensure the successfull transition of donations into kits, all through the months to come.
