Save The Children India is responding to the current crises of Spread Novel Corona Virus. We are reaching out to urban and rural and families in India who are hit unexpectedly with the crises. Loss of daily wages , livelihood have put them to a greater risk of poverty, hunger and health crises. The organisation continues to provide support to the families of children with disabilities, children in institutions and women and children vulnerable to or victims of violence.
Cities and towns under lock down are homes to millions of migrants who survive on daily wage. The lock-down bringing the economic activities at halt has put the migrants and families in the most vulnerable situations. With out an income it is not possible for them to survive in the city. With out an income it is not possible for them to survive in the city at the same time going back to village/hometown is no more an option.
Save The Children India has been working towards supporting government's efforts of reducing spread of Novel Corona-virus by reducing impact of lock-down on most vulnerable communities. We believe that even though the lock down may be relaxed may be in next two months' time, the Families will need a longer support before they find another job or alternate source of income. In these testing times, we are committed not to leave anyone behind and help most vulnerable communities stay afloat.
The efforts will strengthening the government efforts to address the impact of Lock-down on the most marginalized communities and mainly its impact on vulnerable women and children. Especially those in institution, with disability , victims of sexual violence and trafficking.
