Only 56% of the children in India get full immunization. For 1 in every 20 children in India, the 1st birthday might never happen. To address the problem, CRY is focusing on ensuring complete immunizations for 42,430 children between the ages of 0 - 12 months in 3500 villages across India, during the month of July and August, by 1. Providing access to life saving immunization to the children in 3500 villages 2. Ensuring well equipped health centers and early childhood care centers
Every child has the right to survival and right to a healthy and safe childhood. But, in India, only about 56% of children in the age group of 0-12 months tend to get complete immunizations. 1 in every 20 children do not live to celebrate their 1st birthday due to multiple reasons, mainly to say 1. Lack of awareness in the communities on importance of immunization 2. Inaccess to early childhood care centers and public health centers 3. Lack of infrastructures at public health centers
The project will reachout to 42971 children across 3500 villages in India. The project will ensure that these children will have complete immunization against life threatening conditions, which are preventable. The project will also help reduce Infant Mortality Rate and Maternal Mortality Rate in the intervention areas, thus ensuring that these children can live to celebrate their 1st Birthday.
The long term target will be to reduce the mortality rate among children under 5 by two-thirds by 2015. Other objectives of the campaign will be: To rapidly increase immunization coverage To improve quality of coverage To establish a reliable cold chain system at health facility level To monitor the performance
