Dear Friends,
Greetings from Indian Dreams Foundation!
We are happy to share the recent report of our project ‘We care’, a project dedicated to educate, sensitise and aware flood-affected population especially children, adolescent girls and women through workshops, education sessions, and distribution of hygiene kits to follow the hygiene practices for their wellbeing. The Kit helps to prevent the unaware diseases and prevents to spread infections.
Previously, we have surveyed about 100 families of Hetmapur village, one of the villages of the Suratganj Block of the Barabanki District, Uttar Pradesh. Every year the residents of such village have to lose their lands, lives and money due to floods.Adolescent girls & women are the most suffering souls who have to manage their feminine days in terrible conditions without proper hygiene facilities. Many women described their situation in heartbreaking voice, and a high proportion of women do not use hygiene practices especially their menstruation due to lack of resources unavailable in the village and their unawareness towards their wellbeing.
We mentioned in our previous report that we have disseminated information on health and hygiene and distributed hygiene kit to the adolescent girls and women of the flood-affected areas. To make this more impactful, recently we have conducted an education session on the use of sanitary pads, importance of using sanitary pads or clean clothes during menstruation to stay healthy and fit. We also strive to spread the message among the women that menstruation hygiene is every woman’s right even it is a matter of dignity.
During the session, we demonstrated how to use pads. A large proportion of girls and women never saw the sanitary pads before, and they were eagerly wanted to know about it. We have also described, why every girl every month menstruating? Moreover, much more we have discussed with them.
We have also organized WASH (water, sanitation & hygiene) workshop in flood-affected schools to make school children aware towards the importance of WASH practices in their regular activities. We believe that young children are the right source to transform knowledge in their family members.
We distributed Stationery items like pencils, pen, sharpener, eraser, scale, notebooks etc. to the school children of the flood-affected areas to motivate them towards education.
Our continuous efforts to improve the lives of flood-affected adolescent girls and women are showing the positive impacts on their health.
Do contribute to help us for the cause that can change the lives of the girls and women of the flood-affected areas.
