Changemaker Program-- Alumni Student Spotlight!

By Lauren Fine | Co-Founder

Dear Esteemed Donors,

I trust this message finds you in good health and high spirits. It is with great pleasure and immense gratitude that we provide you with an update on the wonderful impact your generosity has had on our projects. Your unwavering support is instrumental in shaping the future of young ChangeMakers in Ghana. The Changemaker program continues to be a favorite for our GEC students and alumni--- and this is all possible because of YOU!

We're excited to share the incredible impact of our ChangeMaker program, not only during the students' time in our program but also as they continue to make a difference after becoming alumni.

While you're familiar with the extraordinary work we do in our ChangeMaker program, it's equally important to showcase the remarkable achievements of our students, both during their time in the program and in their post-graduation endeavors.

Allow us to introduce you to a GEC Alumni, Emmanuel.

Emmanuel embarked on his journey with the GEC program when he was a second-grader in our inaugural year. He stands as a living testament to the remarkable achievements made possible through your donations. Emmanuel, raised by his aunt, is not only the first member of his family to attend high school and college but also a beacon of inspiration for all of us. I vividly recall the first time I met young Emmanuel over a decade ago, and it was evident that he was truly special. His unwavering dedication to his studies has been nothing short of admirable, and witnessing his growth into a remarkable young man has been an absolute joy for all of us. His infectious humor and wit never fail to bring smiles to those around him.

At GEC, we've had the privilege of watching Emmanuel's transformation from being the youngest participant in our program to becoming an active alumnus, whom current GEC students look up to as he ventures on in his college journey.  Emmanuel's aspirations are nothing short of remarkable. With your support, he envisions a future working for a top IT firm in the field of microchip processing. After completing his Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science in 2025, Emmanuel is setting his sights on graduate studies in Nanoscience and Engineering. He is currently exploring various graduate school options and deciding where he would like to apply.  Emmanuel's achievements are not limited to the academic realm; he has displayed exceptional sportsmanship since his middle school years, which he continues to do as a college student at the University of Ghana. Recently, he was honored as the best handball player during the interhall sports competition. Thanks to his outstanding performance, he has been chosen to represent the University at the forthcoming All African Universities Games scheduled for March 2024.

We want to honor and celebrate Emmanuel's aunt, who has been an invaluable partner in our mission from its inception to this very day. She is a fierce advocate for not only Emmanuel but also all the GEC students. Her support has been instrumental in shaping the GEC program and being a mentor to other families in the GEC program.  We are thankful for her partnership.

Emmanuel’s story is just one shining example of the incredible long-term impact your generosity has on the lives of young scholars in Ghana.  We express our deepest gratitude for your commitment and belief in our mission. Your donations are the driving force behind these inspiring stories of growth and achievement, as your donations allow GEC scholars to access schooling and the Changemaker Programming.

We look forward to continuing this journey with you, as together, we nurture the potential of countless more young individuals.

With heartfelt appreciation and warm regards,

Lauren Fine and The GEC Team
