The desire to see colors of life

By Asma Rao | Head of Resource Mobilization

The world is full of colors and natural beauty which influence the mind, body; soul & making them enjoy the beauty of life. However, this is not meant to be for a few who can’t see the beauty that this world holds and are deprived of seeing its wonders. They have to rely on their sense of touch and sound to comprehend what surrounds them:  Vision is a blessing from GOD and we should be thankful for our ability to see. There are many who won’t be able to regain their vision however there is a large number who can recover their sight through a small procedure.

There are many patients treated at Fatima Memorial Hospital who had good vision but with the passage of time due to some diseases or misfortune they lost their vision slowly or at once.

A patient at Fatima Memorial Hospital and was diagnosed with decrease in vision and had difficulty in doing his job; the problem was continuously increasing and leading to blindness. Doctors suggested he needed an operation to overcome his problem and retain his vision. . His best corrected visual acuity was noted to be 20/50 in the right eye and 20/40 in the left eye. On examination, a yellowish opacification of the lens in the left eye was noted. On ophthalmoscopy, the red reflex in the left eye was obscured centrally, and the details of the fundus were indistinct.

He belonged to a poor family and it was very difficult for him to bear the expenses of his treatment. Fatima Memorial Hospital provided him free treatment and bore all his expenses.

Now he is improving day by day and is able to perform well at his work.

We are in the position to improve the lives of many but it can only be possible with your help. Due to financial constraints it is very difficult for us to provide free treatment to a lot of patients.

Please donate to us today so we can help more patients suffering from eye diseases.
