Remote Area Medical is continuing Stan Brock's promise to the people of Guyana by operating its free air ambulance program. Guyana is an extremely isolated region and much of the country suffers from a lack of healthcare resources and transportation infrastructure. This is especially true in the more rural areas of the country. This is why RAM has operated its free air amulance program for 18 years.
RAM currently has data for January of 2019 in which 56 people (including 7 children) benefited from the free RAM air ambulance program. Through this program, 26 adults were fitted with prescription eyeglasses in January, too. The value of this care is $56,260. RAM expects to serve hundreds of more people in Guyana this year -- providing them with critical, lifesaving transportation to the hospital in times of great duress.
