This project focuses on initiatives to support survivors or sexual violence, particuliarly in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo and in Goma. Sexual violence is used as a weapon of war,affecting thaousands of women and girls, with hundreds of new cases. Consequences : psychological trauma, social stigma, miscarriages,illness, and extreme economic hardship. Project objectives: Holistic care, empowerment, reintegration.
Gender-based violence is widespread,taking the form of sexual violence,female genital mutilation and domesticviolence,affecting a large number of women and girls. Survivors suffer psychologicaltrauma and physical injuries,compromising their health and future. There is a lack of appropriate facilities, qualified staff,and ressources for holistic care. Stigma often prevents victims from reporting the crimes. Survivors are often isolated and need support for their socio-economic reintegration
This project provides the following solutions: Provision of specialized medical care;Therapeutic support to help survivors overcome trauma;Iimplementation of incomegerating activities to make survivors financially independent and break the cycle of poverty;Social reintegration and leadership development: Coaching and mentoring, particularly for young girls,to restore their confidence,dignity,and role in the community.
The impact is multidimensional:This project provides access to health care for thousands of victims;Psychosicial support helps break the silence,reduce guilt and trauma;Social reintegrationof these women;Financial support,vocational training and litracy enable them to be come economically independent;Changing perceptions:This project promotes the acceptance and reintegration of women;Women are trained to know their rights and how to assert them,which strenghthens their status in the community
