Our specialized shelter provides comprehensive support for cancer patients and their companions, offering lodging, meals, medical advice, nursing care, psychological and lymphedema therapy, as well as support with wigs, prosthetics, and recreational activities. This program not only alleviates the physical and emotional burdens of those facing this challenging illness but also promotes a better quality of life and hope during critical moments.
According to the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS), cancer patients need to be referred to major cities for treatment due to the availability of necessary equipment. However, those with limited resources, especially women, face monumental challenges not only from the disease but also from the lack of a safe place to stay when traveling for treatment, and without the comprehensive support needed to cope with the physical, psychological, and social effects of the illness.
Cruz Rosa directly benefits these patients and their families by providing a shelter where they receive not only lodging and meals but also medical, psychological, and social support necessary to face their illness with dignity. This ensures they can continue their treatments consistently and effectively, which increases their chances of survival and improves their quality of life.
The project will directly impact more than 180 patients and their families by allowing them to begin, continue, and/or complete their cancer treatment, ensuring the exercise of their right to health. This initiative aligns with Sustainable Development Goal number 3 (Good Health and Well-Being).
