2023 Update

2022 continued to be a tough year for all of us, especially our students and their families. The loss of learning due to the pandemic, combined with the loss of learning due to homelessness, set our students back several months or more compared with their peers.

You — our amazing volunteers, donors and supporters — rose to the challenge, and with your support, we provided one-on-one tutoring to over 1,700 students.

We gave out over 700 laptops, Chromebooks, and tablets to every student who needed one and distributed over 2,500 backpacks filled with school supplies to children living in shelters, motels, vehicles, and group homes. In the summer, we reopened our Skid Row Learning Center, providing a haven for more than 100 students.

During the holiday season, all our families received $100 grocery gift cards for Thanksgiving. Finally, to top the year off, our fabulous friends at Paradise Cove Beach Cafe in Malibu hosted a holiday party for our students, with over 200 guests in attendance. What a great way to end 2022!

As we transition into 2023, our students continue to face similar obstacles. We are fully committed to shrinking the digital divide, tutoring even more students, and offering more support to parents and guardians. We know that we have our work cut out for us, but we also know that we have the best support system. Together, we will do our best to help our students overcome their many challenges. Thank you for being a part of the team and making a positive impact in the lives of the kids and families we serve.

In 2023 our goal is to provide one-on-one tutoring and support to 2,300 students experiencing homelessness in Southern California. We hope you will continue to support our mission of ending the cycle of homelessness and poverty through education.
