Since the start of the Israeli military offensive on Gaza in October 2023, JISP has provided food and other supplies to 3,575 people in the Gaza Strip. We are currently continuing to provide support to Gaza citizens who have fled to Egypt.
In Gaza, where a ceasefire is currently in place, various interventions are being made by the mediating countries regarding the future of Gaza, and the citizens of Gaza who have fled to Egypt are watching this situation with bated breath. Although they are continuing to live in a state of displacement without legal protection, it seems that many people are living with a lot of anxiety as their sources of income and savings are being cut off over time.
On March 1st, the Islamic month of fasting began, and as Ramadan is also the month of compassion, we have decided to use the donations we have received from our donors to provide cash assistance to 10 families in particularly vulnerable situations in the suburbs of Cairo, Egypt. The reason we decided to provide cash rather than distribute goods was because it is difficult for the displaced people to obtain fresh food (meat, vegetables, fruit), and we decided that providing cash would be the best way to meet their various basic needs, such as utility and medical expenses.
The photo shows the Representative Director of JISP, and Walid, the eldest son of one of the beneficiary families. This family of five, consisting of two women and three children, lives in an apartment with the support of an Islamic aid organization. Walid told us, “I'm in high school, but I can't study at an educational institution in Egypt, so I'm taking classes online from the West Bank of Palestine. My dream is to be able to attend school in Egypt or Gaza in person someday.”
JISP will continue to monitor the situation surrounding the refugees from Gaza and provide detailed support on an ongoing basis. We would like to express our sincere gratitude to everyone who has donated or supported us so far. We would also be very happy if you could continue to support our activities in the future.
