Dear Esteemed Patrons,

Greetings to you from Health Education Adoption Rehabilitation Development Society (HEARDS) - India!

Learning from the years of experience and looking forward to the journey ahead, we are poised to walk the road to a promising future. Our approach is defined by a mission set for seasons. We are looking at every nook and corner to draft and craft an array of initiatives to bring holistic development in a child’s life.

As HEARDS optimizes its operations using innovative methods to improve the impact of mid-day meals, it is the collective effort of our stakeholders and their relentless support that strengthens our endeavors to end classroom hunger.

One of the most important objectives of the mid-day meal programme is to incentivize education along with food and nutrition security for the children at our rehabilitation centre. The programme seeks to increase the enrolment, attendance, and retention rates in our centre. The Mid-Day Meal (MDM) Scheme is a transformative programme with the well-being of children at its core. It is a potent intervention to fight classroom hunger and address malnutrition among school-aged children. It serves as an incentive for children to get proper education, improve socialization among children, and empower women through employment opportunities.

It is our attempt to contribute the efforts to bring about holistic growth in children by enhancing their nutritional status and helping them complete their education, thus making them healthy and productive individuals. The main objective of the scheme is to increase enrollment, retention, attendance and to improve the nutritional level of such children through supplementary nutrition. It is an incontrovertible fact that Mid Day Meal Programme exerts a positive influence on the enrollment and attendance in our rehabilitation centre.

The recipients of the Mid Day Meal primarily consist of children from slum and tribal areas. For many the meal we provide may be the only meal they receive in the entire day. So we strive to ensure that the Mid-Day Meal is healthy, nutritious and packed with all the important fibers, vitamins and nutrients required for the healthy growth of the child. Our meals are customized as per the regional or local taste and provisions by the Government.

The objectives of the scheme are:

  • Improve the effectiveness of primary education by improving the nutritional status of children thereby reducing malnutrition.
  • Attract children from disadvantaged sections, especially girls from Dalits and Adivasi tribes to school, thereby increasing attendance, reducing dropout rates & promoting women empowerment through literacy.
  • Promote a feeling of oneness and secularism amongst various different religions and cultures.

A majority of the population in India is still unable to get at least one complete square meal a day. HEARDS has resolved to liberate the underprivileged children from the vicious cycle of poverty and illiteracy by serving them sanctified and nutritious Mid-Day meals. We aim to provide the children with nutritious meal that helps them with the right nutrition in their formative years.

So we request you to kindly participate in the project and kindly pass this message to all your friends and relatives.
