The "Resource for Life" project will offer 30 families with children with Down syndrome a chance to leave the city and recover in the mountains, where nature provides a peaceful environment for emotional and physical healing. The war waged by Russia against Ukraine has caused deep psychological trauma, particularly for families raising children with disabilities. Psychologists will support parents, while qualified specialists will assist in the development and care of the children.
Raising a child with special needs demands immense energy and patience. War, stress, and uncertainty often lead parents to burnout and fatigue, harming their physical and mental health. This reduces their ability to fully support and connect with their children. This project will help families restore their vital resources and improve their well-being.
Over one week, parents of children with Down syndrome will rest and recharge. They'll receive psychological consultations, find peace in the Carpathian forests, and escape daily stress and air raids. Children will work with specialists, while parents share experiences and gain support in evening discussions. Families will return home refreshed, inspired, and equipped with new knowledge to support their children's development.
The project will help parents restore emotional resources, fostering a healthy family atmosphere and supporting the development of children with Down syndrome. Resourceful parents are key to a child's well-being. To ensure lasting effects, families will receive free counseling and psychological support for six months after the project. These services will ease financial burdens, allowing families to focus on their well-being and their children's development.
