We have organized a program of disaster prevention education with a strong will for saving children, together with the bereaved families of 3.11.
“The body of my daughter was burned away in a bus. Even if she had lost a part of her body or got a serious aftereffect, the warmth of her skin would have been enough for me… if she had been still alive,” a mother who lost a child said. She also said “this is why I really want the disaster prevention education focusing on protecting lives.”
After 3.11, the lack of adults’ skill and knowledge about disaster prevention was recognized. We started this program of disaster prevention across Japan in order to protect future children’s lives based on the victims’ experiences and our experience of the activities for disaster recovery since 2011. We are providing this activity for children and the adults working for children, so that we can protect seriously the lives and the minds of future children.
