We are making place to play while supporting the management of Koganehama Chibikko Hiroba (Koganehama Kid’s Playground) conducted by local residents and volunteer group. We have built play equipment by utilizing a wood getting salt damage, debris carried by the tsunami, rusted nails or things being there in same sort of others. It is the playground which is developing continually.
Because it became too old to be kept, the huge barrel for soy sauce was pulled down which had been loved by residents as a symbol, as one of children’s play equipment shortly after the disaster of earthquake and tsunami. It was found from the debris and carried to the playground. When it came to the playground, children gave a scream of delight. The barrel had entertained children just by being there. Children at times climbed up the barrel and enjoyed the view from the top of it. At other times, a child climbed up and spent the time alone after quarrel with a friend. It had not been only play equipment but also a place for children for four and half years and.
Many children joined the work of demolition. Everything has an end, but the loss of a thing which is loved always lets us feel lonely and appreciation. Children have definitely got same feeling. We did it with thankful heart.
