Kodomonomachi Ishinomaki (Play Town Ishinomaki) is an event held over two days in the area including a shopping mall, a street and a vacant lot which suffered the tsunami damage. In this event, children can take various jobs respectively and manage a town. During the event, the street is going to be closed to vehicle traffic, and the street party, in which various people can participate in and play, is held as well.
The first meeting to make this event took place in July, and 39 children took part in the meeting as owners of their respective shops. in addition, the adults who come from over 20 groups have discussed at many times in order to hold it in October. Originally, the project to hold the event started 2 years ago, therefore some children can try to lead others in their meeting. Furthermore, local students who go to high schools or universities can work as facilitators at the moment.
The children, who work as a model, an artist, a cameraman, a radio DJ, a doctor, a shop owner, or things like that, are the hope for the future.
Don't miss it!
