Many playgrounds were lost in Tohoku region because of the tsunami damage or required constructions of temporary houses. Therefore, we provide children with opportunities of play at places, such as car parks in a temporary housing areas or open spaces surrounding the areas, by the Play Kitchen Car called ‘Sammy'.
We make opportunities of meeting and communication not only for children but also for all people living around the playground.
Hot summer came to Ishinomaki, and in this day, we had prepared play with water. Children who are around 4-12 years old played together. In the temporary housing area which we visit frequently by play truck every month, children wait for us in front of the entrance. Also in this day, five children had waited there. Because residents gave us lots of gifts, we were able to eat ice cream with the children. We have been developing good relations with residents gradually.
We are intending to continue to provide the opportunity of communication among residents. Moreover, we would like to build a sustainable community even after they will leave at the temporary houses. And, we are also considering about a place and a system in which residents can gather after their leaving.
