Since February 2026, Amelie has continued its mission of providing free psychosocial support to adults living with cancer and their loved ones throughout the Czech Republic. Every day, people facing cancer rely on our psychological, social, nutritional and physiotherapy consultations, support groups, educational activities and volunteer services to help them navigate the challenges that cancer brings into their lives.
One of the highlights of this period was Tulip Month 2026, our long-standing nationwide awareness and support campaign that has been organized every March since 2013. The tulip, as a symbol of spring, represents hope, renewal and positive change. Through Tulip Month, we aim to bring these values to people affected by cancer and remind them that they are not alone.
As part of the campaign, volunteers decorated dozens of oncology departments across the country with artwork, messages and handmade gifts created by children, students, families and supporters. Thousands of drawings, cards and encouraging messages reached hospitals, helping to transform clinical environments into brighter and more welcoming spaces. These simple gestures carried a powerful message of solidarity, kindness and hope.
Tulip Month also included many community and fundraising activities. Supporters participated in charity bazaars, awareness events and local initiatives that helped raise both funds and awareness about the psychosocial needs of people living with cancer.
In spring 2026, Amelie once again joined the Czech nationwide Cancer Prevention Day, organized by the Czech League Against Cancer. Our volunteers helped distribute the traditional yellow flowers, raising awareness about cancer prevention and the importance of support services for patients and families.
We were also grateful to take part in several community events, including the Savills Bake & Sale Charity Market, where employees and supporters came together to raise funds for cancer support services. Another meaningful partnership was a charitable event organized by Barclays, whose employees contributed both financial support and awareness for our mission.
On May 17, 2026, we participated in the third annual X-RUN Charity Race in Prague. Families, experienced runners, beginners and supporters gathered in Solidarita Park for a day filled with sport, community and solidarity. Hosted by Petr Vojnar, the event included activities for children and adults, emergency service demonstrations, sports challenges and entertainment throughout the park. The proceeds from registration fees directly supported Amelie’s services for people affected by cancer.
Music also remained an important part of our community activities. During the spring, the Friends of Amelie Choir performed a charity concert at the Kampa Community Centre in Prague, bringing together clients, volunteers, supporters and members of the public. Shared music continues to create moments of connection, joy and emotional support for everyone involved.
Another successful event was the Amelie Minigolf Cup 2026, which combined friendly competition with fundraising and awareness raising. Events like these demonstrate that support for people living with cancer can take many forms and can bring communities together in positive and meaningful ways.
Alongside these special events, Amelie continued to provide regular services through its centers and online programs. Every week, clients participated in activities such as oncology yoga, physiotherapist-led exercise sessions, Pilates, Nordic walking, memory training, oriental dance, return-to-work support groups and online peer-support groups for people living with cancer. Similar activities continued in our centers in Prague, Liberec, Olomouc, Rakovník and other regions, ensuring that support remained accessible regardless of where people live.
Our volunteer program in oncology wards also continued throughout this period. Trained volunteers regularly visited patients in hospitals, offering conversation, companionship and emotional support during treatment. For many patients, these visits provide an important reminder that someone cares and that they do not have to face cancer alone.
We were especially proud that one of our long-term hospital volunteers, Emtital Pekníková, who regularly visits patients on oncology wards, received the prestigious Kresadlo Award 2025 for outstanding volunteer service. The award was presented during a ceremonial event organized by Hestia on May 21, 2026, at the Residence of the Mayor of Prague. This recognition highlights the invaluable contribution of volunteers whose kindness, empathy and dedication bring comfort and human connection to people facing cancer treatment.
Looking ahead, we are already preparing a special milestone celebration. On October 4, 2026, together with Prague 10 District, we will organize the Garage Band Festival, a charity music event celebrating the 20th anniversary of Amelie. We look forward to bringing together supporters, volunteers, musicians, clients and the wider public to celebrate two decades of helping people live with cancer with dignity, courage and hope.
Thank you for standing with us. Your support allows Amelie to continue offering professional help, human connection and hope to people facing one of the most difficult challenges of their lives. Together, we are helping people not only cope with cancer, but continue living meaningful and fulfilling lives despite it.
