Rainbow Trust supports families of children who are terminally-ill or with a life-threatening condition. We support families from diagnosis, through treatment and beyond - whatever the outcome. Our Family Support Workers fill the gaps between hospital, home and hospice like no one else can so seriously ill children and their families are not isolated and have the help and support they need to face very difficult daily challenges.
The pressures on a family with a seriously ill child are extreme. Siblings often feel left out and neglected as the attention of their parents, family and friends focuses on their sick brother or sister. They often believe they have done something bad to cause this imbalance and feel frightened about what is happening around them and of what the future holds. They can become angry, withdrawn and resentful and school work can be severely disrupted.
Rainbow Trust's expert Family Support Workers provide bespoke care to all family members in their own homes through diagnosis, treatment and beyond bereavement where necessary, ensuring they have someone to rely on for as long as they need it.
Rainbow Trust provides emotional and practical support to over 2,500 families per year - supporting not just the sick child but also the healthy siblings, parents, carers and grandparents.
