This project aims to sustain a financially viable kindergarten that provides access to early childhood education for children from some of Jakarta's most undeserved communities-including families of trash pickers, single parents, and informal workers. Each school year, through the XSProject Learning Class, young children are given the opportunity to grow academically and socially through structured learning, engaging indoor and outdoor activities, and play-based experiences.
XSProject faces significant challenges in supporting the education of children from marginalized communities, especially those from scavenger families and casual laborers. One of the main obstacles is the families' extremely limited financial resources. Many parents struggle to meet even their basic daily needs, making education a lower priority in their lives. Also, a lack of awareness and understanding among parents about the importance of education is also a major barrier.
At the XSProject, we are dedicated to offering an alternative for children and families-a safe space to begin a healthier, more hopeful life. While the children attend school from Monday to Friday, we purchase fresh vegetables and nutritious ingredients, and invite their parents to cook at the foundation. This initiative supports basic needs such as healthy meals for the children, school supplies, and access to basic healthcare. Our goal is to ensure their education is not disrupted b
XSProject aims to become a model for empowering urban communities-focusing not only on providing aid, but also on creating access, opportunities, and support an independence in education, environmental awareness, and social development. We strive to ensure that the children in our care can pursue education to the highest possible level-not just stop at elementary school. Our hope is that education will help them break free from the cycle of poverty and better chance at a brighter future.
