SUPPORT DUFATANYE’S GROWING IMPACT

Project overview

Dufatanye Organization continues to work toward the construction of a new training center that will significantly expand its capacity to serve communities in Rwanda and beyond. The planned facility will provide adequate space for agricultural trainings, youth and children's programs, women's economic empowerment initiatives, and staff operations. Once completed, the center will strengthen the ability to reach thousands of beneficiaries annually and support sustainable community development.

Fundraising progress

Dufatanye is pleased to report that the project has so far raised USD 443 toward the overall fundraising goal of USD 100,000. We extend our sincere gratitude to all donors who have contributed to this initiative. Every contribution, regardless of size, is helping lay the foundation for a facility that will serve generations of community members.

While fundraising is still ongoing, Dufatanye Organization remains committed to advancing preparatory activities to ensure the project is ready for implementation as additional resources become available.

Activities implemented

During the reporting period, efforts focused on preparing the project site for construction. Key activities undertaken include:

1. Clearing vegetation and unwanted materials from the construction site.
2. Preparing and leveling the land to create a suitable foundation for future construction works.
3. Organizing the project area and conducting preliminary site preparations necessary before the start of building activities.
4. Continuing engagement with supporters and stakeholders to mobilize additional resources for the project.

These preparatory activities represent an important milestone in moving the project from planning toward implementation.

Impact to date

Although the project is still in its early stages and construction has not yet commenced, it is already generating positive impacts within the local community. The ongoing land clearing and site preparation activities have created temporary employment opportunities for 50 community members living around Dufatanye Organization. Through their participation in these preparatory works, local workers have earned income that helps support their households while contributing to the realization of a project that will benefit the wider community.

In addition, visible progress on the site has increased community engagement and confidence in the project. Community members and stakeholders are encouraged by the fact that preparations are underway, reinforcing their belief that the planned training center will soon become a reality. Once completed, the facility will significantly expand Dufatanye Organization's capacity to serve vulnerable populations by:

- Training up to 9,000 farmers annually in climate-smart and sustainable agriculture practices.

- Providing a safe and adequate learning environment for more than 600 children participating in educational programs.

- Creating dedicated space for women's cooperatives to produce and market their products.

- Improving staff productivity through better working facilities.

-  Supporting the expansion of community-led development initiatives that promote self-reliance, resilience, and economic growth.

The project therefore is not only an investment in future community development but is already beginning to contribute to local livelihoods through employment creation during the construction preparation phase.

Challenges

The primary challenge remains the funding gap between the amount raised and the resources required to complete construction. While progress has been made, additional support is needed to move from site preparation to foundation and building works.

Looking ahead

In the coming months, Dufatanye Organization will continue fundraising efforts while finalizing site preparations. As more funding becomes available, the project will advance to the next construction phases, including foundation works and structural development.
