City Year Washington, DC works with over 4,300 students in 13 public schools throughout the year. During the week of Spring Break for DC Public Schools, City Year welcomes students to join in a full-day camp experience to continue to positively impact students and keep them focused on education. This year City Year Corps Members will lead campers through the week around the theme of Timeless Heroes--focusing students around learning about positive role models and heroes across time.
At City Year, we believe education has the power to help every child reach his or her potential. However, in high-poverty communities there are external factors and obstacles students are faced with every day that can interfere with their ability to get to school ready to learn.
Camp City Year provides engagement with students during a time they are out of school. Campers will be exposed to new ideas, continue their learning and socialization, and benefit from the teaching and mentoring relationships built with Corps Members.
We will work with 250 campers throughout Camp City Year. Campers attend schools across the District.
