This project will plant fruit trees in rural communities in Uganda to fight climate change, improve nutrition, and create future income. By engaging families, schools, and veteran households, we restore degraded land while helping communities grow food, protect the environment, and build sustainable livelihoods.
Many rural communities in Uganda face worsening climate impacts due to deforestation, poverty, and limited environmental awareness. Families rely on cutting trees for survival, reducing soil fertility and food security. Schools and communities lack affordable, climate-smart solutions that protect the environment while supporting nutrition and livelihoods.
This project will address climate and livelihood challenges by planting fruit trees in schools and communities during a coordinated one-day activity. By providing seedlings, hands-on tree planting, and practical training on tree care, communities will gain climate-smart resources that improve nutrition, restore land, and support long-term environmental stewardship.
By establishing fruit trees in communities, this project will create lasting benefits beyond the planting day. As the trees mature, they will improve local food security, generate future income, restore degraded land, and strengthen climate resilience. Children and families will gain practical environmental knowledge, encouraging sustainable practices that protect natural resources for years to come.
