Dear Friends,
The new school year is underway, and back-to-school programming has kicked off at Lend a Hand Bahamas. Our focus is on helping children establish strong learning routines and ensuring they have a supportive place to turn beyond the school day.
Through our after-school programming, children receive homework assistance, literacy support, and encouragement from our team. Our community centres provide space to work through challenges, ask questions, and continue building the skills they need in the classroom.
Alongside academic support, our approach brings together mentorship and enrichment activities. We want children to have opportunities to explore their interests, develop positive relationships, and feel supported as they navigate the school year.
This work comes at a time of considerable need. In August, more than 300 families reached out to Lend a Hand Bahamas for assistance preparing their children for school. Those requests underscored the pressures facing families and the importance of consistent community support after the school year begins.
With our organisation now spanning almost three community centres, we remain focused on connecting our spaces and programmes to the everyday needs of children and families in Nassau. As this school year progresses, our priority is to sustain meaningful academic support, mentorship, and opportunities for young people to learn and grow.
Thank you for helping make this work possible. Your support helps sustain a community where children have people to encourage them, places to learn, and opportunities to keep moving forward.
