Lend a Hand Bahamas was founded to bring more activities, opportunities, and resources to socio-economically disadvantaged areas of the Bahamas. Currently, we are planning and implementing new programs and projects in certain areas of the Bahamas with the long-term goals of connecting with others to offer a collaborative approach towards solving problems around health, education, food security, and the environment.
A great deal of philanthropy that takes place in the Bahamas is one-time and temporary in response mostly to disasters. This short-term funding creates significant impact, but this impact is short-lived as families struggle to make ends meet and young people continue to resort to illegal activities to provide for themselves. Other problems we are facing include poor public health, climate change, and lack of food security on the islands.
Lend a Hand Bahamas was founded as a Bahamian nonprofit organization in 2014 after realizing a clear need to build collaborative partnerships with other nonprofits, foundations, corporations, and individuals to enhance Bahamian communities and tackle major problems facing the youth and their families. Through our unique donor base and data-drive approach to problem solving we are expanding our physical footprint to have greater impact in 2023 and 2024.
Due to our consistent and long-term focus, we are poised to have significant impact as we work with children while they are developing and help provide that safety net needed to keep children and teens on track towards positive impact. By tracking demographic, academic, and participation data in our programs we are able to better visualize problems as they arrive and provide immediate support where needed to achieve impact while ensuring we use fundraised dollars to maximize effectiveness.
