Child Safe Schools and Communities is a new project that ABS-CBN Foundation-Bantay Bata 163 launched to strengthen child protection systems in schools and communities. We do this by partnering with schools and helping them formulate contextualized Child Protection Policies and Programs, providing Advocacy Kits for replication of the project, and supporting the school or barangay (local community) through information campaigns on child protection.
8 out of 10 Filipino children are abused in different settings. Online sexual abuse and exploitation of children (OSAEC) is also a rising form of child abuse in the Philippines. This emphasizes the need for schools, a child's second home, to actively participate in the protection of the youth. However, while some schools recognize the importance of a Child Protection Policy and Program, they still require support in effective implementation.
Through the Child Safe Schools and Communities project, ABS-CBN Foundation-Bantay Bata 163 helps schools formulate their own Child Protection Policy & Program that is contextualized to their needs. With your support, Bantay Bata 163 can deliver child protection and parenting talks that discuss important topics such as mental health, child's rights, parenting with love, and combatting online sexual exploitation. These discussions create community awareness for the protection of Filipino children
